What's Expected of Parents
One of the most critical elements of a successful Scouting experience is offering your support and active involvement. You can make a huge difference in your Scout’s experience when you:
-
Guide Your Cub Scout - Help him to understand and accomplish the achievements required for each rank advancement (Tiger to Wolf, Wolf to Bear, etc.). Show interest in, and appreciation for, his efforts and accomplishments and the new things he is learning.
-
Ensure Regular Attendance - Make sure your Scout arrives promptly and is prepared for meetings, with a sharp uniform appearance. Teach your Scout to contact his den leader if he will be absent from a meeting or event.
-
Support Your Den Leader - Take the initiative to ask how you can help during the year, including volunteering to organize a meeting or activity.
-
Support the Pack - In order to have a successful program and carry out the many activities planned throughout the year, the pack needs the help of every pack family. All parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer for a leadership position within the pack, or to coordinate a specific activity during the year, based on his or her interests and strengths.
Pack 302 leaders are typically parents of boys in the pack, just like you. They have volunteered their time to make sure the pack runs as smoothly as possible. There is a post or job for all, and the pack runs much more smoothly when everyone pitches in. Ask the Pack Committee Chair or the Cubmaster how you can help!
